1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies and similar technologies are small files or pieces of data stored on your device when you use Neighborhood-Nest. They help the Platform stay signed-in, remain secure, and (with your permission) enable optional features such as Google Maps.

2. Categories We Use

2.1 Essential (always on)

Required for the Platform to work. These do not require consent.

• Authentication / session: NextAuth and contractor session cookies so you stay logged in
• Security: CSRF and related protections
• Consent storage: Remembering your cookie preferences in local storage
• Core service delivery: Cookies set by the media provider (Cloudinary) when you upload

2.2 Functional (optional)

Used only if you Accept all cookies or enable Functional in Customize:

• Google Maps / Places: Address autocomplete and map views

If you reject Functional cookies, you can still enter addresses manually. Maps scripts will not load until you opt in.

2.3 Analytics and Marketing (not currently used)

Neighborhood-Nest does not currently load Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or similar marketing/analytics cookies. Those categories are therefore not offered in the cookie banner. If we add them later, we will update this Policy and request consent before enabling them.

3. Third-Party Technologies

• Cloudinary: Image upload/storage when you add photos
• Google Maps Platform: Only when Functional cookies are allowed and a map/address feature is shown
• Email provider (Resend): Transactional email delivery (server-side; not a browser cookie banner category)

4. Your Choices

When you first visit, you can:

• Accept: Essential + Functional
• Reject: Essential only
• Customize: Choose Functional on or off, then save

Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage) and respected on return visits. Clearing site data will reset the banner.
